Chinese Investors building a city in Malaysia – bigger than Washington DC

The Chinese investor Country Gardens is building a huge new city on four artificial islands in Malaysia. The city will be called Forest City, will cost 100 billion USD and will have a higher population than Washington DC (700.000) and a greater density than Manhattan. The city will have office buildings, parks, a transit network, hotels, restaurants, shops, schools, 250.000 housing units and cars won’t be allowed in most of the islands.
It will be the largest overseas project by a Chinese property developer. The plan is that the project is finished by 2040. The Malaysian government has given the project tax incentives to encourage job growth in the area.
